Good evening, House of Madness residents:
Some time ago, I previewed "All Fun and Games", so if you'd like to read my initial thoughts on the film, please click here.
I really don't get all the hate this film is receiving, as I quite enjoyed my time (albeit brief) spent with it. The film takes a simple premise of a demon that enjoys playing games in a life or death manor, and spins a tale all its own. With a runtime of just 76 minutes as well, the film gets right to the point and doesn't bother with a lot of the unnecessary buildup other films use to extend their runtime.
Since there isn't really much character building, does the film suffer as a result? Sure, but at the same time when the story basically revolves around three siblings that annoy each other on the daily, it's easy to resonate with their hellish plight once they're thrown into the proverbial fire. More than once I caught myself laughing out loud and enjoying the sarcasm delivered by a character, but I was admittedly prepared for an absolute stinker when I took the lowly rating it has received thus far on Imdb. Speaking of which, I really don't get why it has such a low rating currently bordering around the 4/10 mark, as I usually associate such ratings for tripe along the lines of the new "Exorcist" film, or others that are clearly below par.
At the end of the day "All Fun and Games" may not be a stellar film, but it's short, witty, and just an overall easy watch if you have a spare hour and change you're willing to part with; afterall, who doesn't like a good game every now and then?
Madness Meter: 5.8/10
