Elevator Game (2023)

Good morning, House of Madness residents:

A few months ago I previewed "Elevator Game" here, so if you'd like to read my initial thoughts on the film, feel free to click the link.

If you did read my preview, you'll notice that I was pretty amped about the possibilities the film presented, and I was definitely looking forward to the day I would finally be able to sit down and feast my eyes on it. Unfortunately, what I anticipated being a creepy good time turned out to be neither creepy, nor a good time. The premise of the film is obviously solid, which intrigued me from the onset of learning about it, but the execution in which they delivered the film is simply a giant cringe fest. Calling the acting borderline would be kind on my part, and the overall production value had me feeling like I was watching a failed college project. If this film had been a short, I think it would have excelled, but watching dumb teens pressing elevator buttons for 90 minutes gets kinda old after the first 15 or so. When they're deciding what to do for their next show, even one of the characters says how no one wants to watch a bunch of people going up and down an elevator, and he was right.

Now, to be fair, this film's rating on Imdb is currently under 4, and I don't think that's accurate, but at the same time, "Elevator Game" doesn't do itself any favors in the delivery of scares department. At the end of the day there are worse films out there you could spend your time on, but if you do decide to give this film a go, just do yourself a favour and leave your brain in the main lobby.

Madness Meter: 4.4/10
