Good afternoon, House of Madness residents:
Who doesn't love Christmas? We certainly do, and not just because of all the bloody gifts we dole out, but it's also a great time of year for some great holiday entertainment. So here we are, House of Madness's top 10 Christmas movies…….with a twist. In no particular order:
- "Christmas Vacation" (1989) - If this flick isn't in your regular arsenal of Xmas delights, then perhaps your time would be better spent in the 'Jelly of the Month Club'. Shitter's full!
- "Gremlins" (1984) - Some Christmas gifts just keep on giving, and if you were lucky enough to get one of these little guys for a gift, then you most certainly had yourself a chaotic, yet not so merry Christmas. No midnight snacking!
- "A Christmas Carol" (1984) - Everyone has seen this gem of a film, and if by chance you haven't, then three ghosts will be visiting you in the near future to explain how your taste in movies has been lacking. Bah, humbug!
- "Die Hard" (1988) - Yes, it's a Christmas movie. Bruce Willis has a list of who's been naughty and nice, and you definitely don't wanna be on his naughty list. Yes, it's a Christmas movie.
- "Violent Night" (2022) - An instant classic in which a jaded Santa becomes a family's only hope as they're being robbed over the holidays. Who knew that Santa was capable of kicking some serious ass?
- "Bad Santa" (2003) - If the idea of a drunken, vulgar, down on his luck Santa doesn't sound appealing to you, then "You need therapy, many, many, many years of therapy".
- "Black Christmas" (1974) - Forget the remakes, the original 70's version is still one of the great go-to's if you're in the spirit for some holiday carnage. Better check the attic before you turn in for the night.
- "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993) Christmas is so magical, that the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town will do anything to bring some holiday cheer into the lives of his brethren, but can they get it right?
- "Home Alone" (1990) - I think at one point in all of our lives, we've each secretly wished that we could give Kevin McCallister a big high five for all the evil fun he had with The Wet Bandits. Keep the change, ya filthy animal.
- "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (1965) - To this day, there isn't a single Christmas movie that makes time stand still like this classic film does. There's just something special about Charlie Brown and the gang, and every year I can't wait to see them all together again.
