Infinity Pool (2023)

Good afternoon, House of Madness tourists:

Sometimes life gets you down, and the everyday monotony that comes with the work grind can leave you feeling helpless, almost as if you're stuck in a vortex of tedium which is slowly driving you mad, and sucking your inner soul like an imperceptible vampire. Get up. Get dressed. Eat. Work. Sleep. Repeat. Over and over the cycle continues, and unless you break the routine every so often, life becomes pretty miserable. Nothing beats the work grind like a nice vacation with loved ones though, and whether your release into happiness is in the tropics, the mountains, on a cruise ship, or even just your own private staycation at home is irrelevant, as everyone has their own unique perception of paradise, and yearns for its hospitable embrace when life gets to the boiling point. There's a feeling of freedom and escape as you leave your job, mortgage, credit card debt, and all of life's problems behind, even though you know it's only temporary and these things aren't being eliminated entirely, it's still a blissful fantasy you get to revel in while your brain heals itself from the damage Joe in HR has caused these past few months. Hey, FUCK YOU, JOE IN HR!

James (Alexander Skarsgard) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman) are enjoying an all-inclusive vacation on the fictional island of La Tolqa. Fictional or not, all-inclusive vacations are the shit, as you're able to drink yourself into oblivion, and gorge on mediocre crab cakes you'd most certainly avoid if they were served at a work function, instead of a silver tray protected by heat lamps in a tropical paradise. Sounds like James and Em are in for a great time! One night, while driving along the coast, a person appears in the middle of the road, and there is a fatal accident. It was a horrifying ordeal, but it really was an accident, so other than his obvious feelings of remorse, James has nothing to atone for. Or does he? A knock at the door reveals policemen with the intention of arresting James, and he is shocked and mortified to learn that the island has a little punishment policy when it comes to crime. Death. Accident or not, a life for a life is how the reaper gets paid in La Tolqa, and business has always been booming. There is one alternative however; for a very hefty sum, James's body can be dupilicated, and his mysterious clone can be sent off to be executed in his place. Sounds like an easy choice to me, but sometimes in life the easy way out has consequences, and the easy way isn't necessarily the smart way. I knew they should have just gone to the Grand Canyon.

"Infinity Pool" releases January 27th, 2023. I recommend taking the bus.....and maybe your twin sibling, just in case.
