IT: Welcome to Derry (2025 - Episode 2)

Good morning, House of Madness residents:

Some things get better with age, and if you're lucky enough to witness their metamorphosis in real time, the results can be quite dazzling. No, I'm not talking about cheese, a fine wine, or even yours truly, I'm referring to the likes of evolving greatness that you're able to witness as it grows and grows, like a chosen child planted in a garden of elite premonition. So far, "IT: Welcome to Derry" is on a clear upward path, seemingly destined for all the things we'd hoped and anticipated.

After the dust has settled from the impossibly horrific tragedy at the local cinema, the town of Derry has realized it has a little bit of a murder problem. Not only are missing children turning up dead and slaughtered, there seems to be no clear motive, or, more importantly, no clear suspect. Sure, the police have their ideas, and even though the department is feeling heat from the upper echelons of the mayor's office, there just simply isn't enough evidence to draw any concrete conclusions. Regardless, these 'grown-up' problems are nothing compared to what the children are dealing with, and if their dreams and hallucinations are any indication of things to come, the town of Derry will need more than a jail cell and some overpriced lawyers to incapacitate whoever, or whatever they're up against.

After a decent, yet rocky start with episode 1, episode 2 doesn't play the long game, and immediately ramps up the atmosphere and chaos. After getting to know a few of our townsfolk a little bit better, and delving into the lives of a certain few, it doesn't take long for the tension to ramp up to an 11, and pull on our wants and desires for a bloodbath of abnormalities and terrifying delights. If every episode continues on this path, we could be in for a helluva ride, which would make this guy very happy, as I'm really taking a shining to this show.

Madness Meter: 8.8/10
