Good afternoon, House of Madness stalkers:
Nothing beats catching up with an old friend; whether you meet up at a coffee shop and discuss your brother's transgender surgery, or you simply stick to the basics and chat about the unseasonably hot weather is irrelevant, there's nothing quite like the company of an old friend. For high school friends Elena (Callie Hernandez) and Jessica (Ashley Denise Robinson), their little trip down memory lane starts off innocently enough, but Jessica is harbouring a dark secret, and the two friends of old are about to have their relationship tested in a most bizarre way.
Elena lives a solitary lifestyle, keeping to herself even when she's satisfying her most primal needs. After a roll in the hay (or the backseat of a car), her companion has some questions for Elena, and in order to get to know each other better, Elena is more than happy to tell the story of her old friend Jessica, whom she bumped into at a gas station while looking after her grandmother's trailer in New Mexico, thousands of miles away from where she is now.
When Elena and Jessica first reconnect upon running into each other, it doesn't take long for Elena to learn that Jessica has a problem, and a big one at that; Jessica has been dealing with a stalker, and has been on the run trying to elude him for months. One major problem: her stalker Kevin (Will Madden) seems to have trailed Jessica all the way to New Mexico, and now the two friends have a huge problem on their hands. Getting rid of Kevin isn't as simple as calling 9-1-1, and jumping in the car and driving as fast as they can won't work either; in order to get rid of Kevin once and for all, the two friends will have to get some help from beyond the grave, and then some.
With a runtime of only 72 minutes, "Jethica" takes an interesting premise and runs with it. While never taking itself too seriously, the film still packs a punch and delivers a unique and enthralling story in which you can't help but enjoy the ride, albeit a short one, which works in the film's favour as well. Oh, and if you're wondering why it'th called Jethica, that'th an interethting thing ath well.
