Last Train to New York (2023)

Good afternoon, House of Madness zombies:

Do you like remakes? Personally, if a film is good, I don't much care if it's an original or a remake, as long as it's entertaining and at some point pays homage to its creative predecessor. There are actually quite a few remakes I've rather enjoyed over the years such as 2002's "The Ring", 2010's "Let Me In", and 2008's "Quarantine" to name a few. On the other hand, there have been plenty of instances in which a remake has set off my inner and outer rage-o-meter, sending me into fits of ranting and rambling like a homeless person looking for their shopping cart. To keep the negativity to a minimum, we won't discuss any of the rancid remakes hinted at above, and I don't want to come off as childish if I sit here and complain about 2012's "Total Recall", I mean, what the fucking hell were they thinking remaking a film that's already perfect, let alone butchering the story into 1200 pieces of corn infested feces that nobody asked for in the first fucking place!? I'd rather shove toothpicks under my fingernails and use them to collect litter off of the freeway instead of watching that pile of incoherent drivel ever again, and shove my other hand right up.......oops, I got a little carried away again, best to reset and refocus on the film at hand, and pretend a "TOTAL RECALL" REMAKE NEVER FUCKING HAPPENED.......

Sorry. If you're unfamiliar with 2016's "Train to Busan", then you're likely in for a real treat as long as "Last Train to New York" stays true to the story and plot of the original. The plot is simple: a zombie virus breaks out, and the passengers on a train from Seoul to Busan desperately try to survive in order to find a safe haven, and most importantly, stay alive. I'm sure there are a lot of people that feel the zombie genre has been beaten to death, but when done properly, a good zombie flick is just what the masochistic doctor ordered, and "Train to Busan" was a helluva cure. Like I said, as long as this remake sticks to the formula that made its source material such a breath of fresh air to the zombie genre, it should be a film worthy of us dying to see; I'd avoid public transportation to and from the theater though, just in case.

"Last Train to New York" is slated to hit theaters April 18th, 2023.
