No One Will Save You (2023)

Good afternoon, House of Madness aliens:

Do you believe in extra terrestrials? Whenever you see all the UFO sightings on the news or on YouTube, does it peak your interest, or simply leave you rolling your eyes? Do you stay up late hoping to catch a glimpse of their ship, secretly wishing they strip you down and gently probe you into oblivion? OK, maybe that last part was a little bit much, but what would you do if you had to suddenly deal with a hoarde of angry aliens? For recluse Brynn (Kaitlyn Dever), the answer is simple: fight to the death.

Brynn is a seamstress that gets by with her online dress shop, and lives in a traditional house all by her lonesome. The only time she needs to leave her self portrayed fortress of solitude, is when she has to head into town to mail out her latest creations, and that's just fine with Brynn, as everyone looks at her with judging eyes and secretive glances as she makes her way through life. Life sure is lonely, but when you live in a world you don't fit into, being all by yourself is a pretty great alternative.

One night, Brynn hears what she thinks are raccoons going through her garbage, only when she goes downstairs to investigate, the front door is wide open, and she can see the shadow of a figure in her kitchen. It isn't long before she's face to face with a being not of this world, and she must fight for her life. After a long night finally comes to an end, Brynn heads into town on her bicycle and discovers that everyone she encounters is acting strange, and everyone is against her. It doesn't matter what corner she turns, or what road she takes, Brynn is confronted by alien beings, or humans which have been metamorpisized into hideous creatures out to get her. As the night goes on, it almost seems as if everyone is trying to show Brynn something, and help her see and deal with something from the past in order to secure her future. Flashbacks to her childhood are rampant, and memories of her and her deceased sister Maude (Dari Lynn Griffin) are being relived over and over. Is Brynn being forced to replay a tragedy,  or is she simply being mentally tortured by other-worldly beings with nothing but cruel intentions?

"No One Will Save You" is a brilliant little film that touches on a subject that we're finally getting comfortable talking about. Not only that, but the action and terror created in the film are highly intense, and keep us glued to our seats for its entire duration. While I'll admit this film certainly won't be for everyone, what I'll emphasize the most is that for a film with less than 10 words of total dialog (no joke!), it sure does have a lot to say.

Madness Meter: 7.7/10
