Good morning, House of Madness residents:
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have super powers? Perhaps you could be 'The Janitor' and clean up trash with ease by simply waving the refuse away with your hand. Maybe you could be 'Captain Compliment' and fly around the city making everyone feel better about themselves before they start their work day. Perchance you're more of a go-getter, and find yourself ensuring everyone has a fully paid parking meter, thwarting those evil meter maids while you re-invent the name 'Peter Parker'. All of these may sound silly, but compared to what happens in "Radius", any of the aforementioned scenarios would be a breath of fresh air.
Liam (Diego Klattenhoff) wakes up after a car crash with absolutely no memory, and starts to walk into town searching for help. As he's walking, birds start to fall from the sky, and people driving past him on the road just up and die for no reason whatsoever. As the death toll rises, Liam starts to discover that what's happening isn't an airborne virus, but anything or anyone that comes into close proximity with him simply keels over and dies. That's going to make getting laid a real problem, I'd guess. After hiding out and trying to conjure up a plan, Liam meets Jane (Charlotte Sullivan), a woman also suffering from memory loss, and she seems to be immune to his little grim reaper problem. As the two new acquaintances (or are they) work together towards finding someone who can help, they will slowly piece together their memories, and discover their true pasts. Were the two friends that simply had a car accident, or is there something far more sinister going on behind the scenes that neither one of them are ready to uncover?
My main issue with "Radius" is that everything feels cheaply made and half-assed. While at the very least it feels like a made-for-TV movie, it still suffers from a lackluster story that never really takes off, and when it tries to, it does so with the grace and elegance of a flying penguin. While the film certainly has an interesting premise, its execution in every department from dialog to special effects are just downright silly, and the film completely misses its mark. Oh well, after this much time has passed, hopefully there won't be a "Radiuses", because that just might kill us all.
