Good afternoon, House of Madness sidekicks:
Are you one of those people that go to a concert, and while everyone else is throwing their bras, blowing kisses, and launching their admiration at the lead singer, you're there to appreciate the bass player as he strums brilliantly in relative anonymity? Perhaps you go to a hockey game and instead of being hypnotized by their best player, you spend the majority of the game focused on their 3rd line center, because instead of doing one thing brilliantly, he or she take care of all the little things that usually go unnoticed. While everyone else scarfs down every slice of pizza they can get their greasy fingers on, you gorge yourself on the cheesy bread in solitude, eating your fill with ease while everyone else pretends they don't want the last slice. Not everyone likes to play along with the mainstream ideologies of society, and instead enjoy a perhaps more slow paced, yet unappreciated facet of life's opulence.
Enter "Renfield", Dracula's (Nicolas Cage) loyal servant for centuries; a man who has done the vampire's bidding, kept all of his secrets, and effortlessly scrubbed his skivvies. Are those skid marks!? No matter, the time has come for Renfield (Nicholas Hoult) to branch out on his own and discover a world that exists for himself, and not just his narcissistic boss. Is Renfield ready for independence, or have all these years of serving his Master actually been an ostensible bulwark in which he isn't a victim of abuse? After centuries, I'm sure it will be tough to fit in with the high paced lifestyle of today's world, and I'm not just talking about how to dress for success in robes and tattered moccasins. I hope he has Amazon Prime.
"Renfield" is in post-production, and is scheduled to hit theatres April 14th, 2023. Even if they're not into movies for the entertainment like everyone else, bring your friend that loves the theatre experience just for the popcorn, that's good enough for me.
