Saw X (2023)

Good afternoon, House of Madness puppets:

When it comes to another film in the "Saw" franchise, it basically boils down to Jigsaw stating to your grey matter: "Watch or don't, make your choice". I'll admit that every single time I've been met with this inner dilemma, I've always ended up choosing to watch, even though there have definitely been times when I wished I had a steel toed boot rigged up to an ass kicking machine, in order to teach myself the art of consequence. The franchise is so inconsistent and hit-or-miss to me, that I almost feel trapped in one of Jigsaw's puzzles as I try to render my decision, because even though there's a higher probability of another sequel being hot ass, there's also that smaller possibility that the film will be decent, and I'll be missing out on some good, gory fun. I actually enjoyed 2021's "Spiral", but I'm admittedly a big Chris Rock fan (pre-slap), so there's a high probability that I gave that film a lot more slack than it may have deserved.

What exactly "Saw X" is about, or whether it's going to be worth your hard earned money is yet to be seen, but there's a returning familiar face named Tobin Bell, not to mention the fact that the last time I saw a sequel with an X in it was "Jason X", and that flick contained Jason's most badass kill of all fucking time (in case you're unfamiliar, it's the kill when Jason cryogenically freezes someone's face, and proceeds to smash it into 47,863 pieces). I can't say for certain that I will dedicate my dollars and sense to seeing "Saw X" in theatres when it drops on October 27, 2023, but I will most definitely see it at some point beyond its release; afterall, I'd much prefer to watch a disappointing horror film knowing I made a mistake, rather than skipping one and never knowing the enjoyment I could have experienced - I don't like to play those games, and I'm not so sure I'm ready to accept hearing "Game over" just yet.

Great post….anytime there’s a Jason X greatest kill ever reference or a nod to Spiral, I’m in. And I’ll check out Saw X because, like you, I don’t want to miss something cool. Cheers
