Scare Package II: Rad Chad's Revenge

Good afternoon, House of Madness visitors:

I appreciate when someone brings me a coffee without asking if I wanted one first, even if I've had my daily jolt of caffeine; it's still nice that someone thought of me on their own. If someone gives me second-hand clothing for my kids, the gesture is welcomed even though the sizes are WAY off; the fact that they directed their generosity at me is still heartwarming. When someone waits until they're out of the elevator before letting one rip with the stench of last night's beans and eggs, I know they did it for the good of others, and not themselves. I feel the same way about "Scare Package II" in the sense that it really did mean well, even though it didn't deliver what I'd hoped for. Hey, it's the thought that counts.

There are four individual stories in "Scare Package II" , ranging from "Stand by Me" inspirations to a poor man's rendition of "Re-Animator". Each individual segment ties in with the main story of the film, which impersonates "Saw" in tasteful mockery, but slowly grows dull as the film progresses. My main issues are that the first installment didn't warrant a sequel, as it was borderline average as far as anthology horror goes, and my second issue is this film seems to have been made for the creators themselves, rather than the intended audience habituated outside the studio walls. You can tell that the writers, directors, cast, and all involved had a really fun time making this, as Meryl Streep couldn't fake the authenticity and emotions delivered by everyone on screen. It's just a shame a project that clearly brought them so much joy, left the most important audience of all in the shadows of its facetious homage to some truly classic films. Sorry "Scare Package II" , the effort didn't go unnoticed, but this coffee just doesn't taste right, and nobody appreciates hand-me-downs that have been farted in....but thank you for getting off the elevator first.
