Good afternoon, House of Madness fiends:
There's nothing like a great combination when two individual delights join forces to bring you their mingled talents concocted into one. Peanut butter is amazing, but add jam into the mix, and you've got a partnership for the ages, and your mouth thanks ye for the delicious introduction. Sports are great, and nothing beats vegging on the couch watching endless football on a lazy Sunday; well nothing except the addition of a dozen brewskies and a thousand chicken wings that is. What would a wonderful night spent watching a film, taking a nice long walk, and staring into your lover's eyes really be like if you knew the romantic festivities weren't going to end with a good old fashioned game of 'bury the pickle'? Yes indeed, things are simply better when some of the best individual qualities of life join forces to bring you the ultimate experience in maximum pleasure. My excitement-o-meter is at full blast right now having learned that the movie adaptation of Stephen King's "The Boogeyman" is being directed by one Mr. Rob Savage, who has delivered two counts of terrifying bliss thus far with "Host" followed up by "Dashcam". This is one deadly combination you couldn't pay me to ignore, as this dynamic duo have the potential to deal my eyeballs an experience not even a solar eclipse could shine upon them; let's just hope I don't go blind if I stare too long at the phenomena happening on the screen before me.
For those of you unfamiliar with Mr. King's short story from 1973 which was originally published in Cavalier magazine and later collected in his anthology book "Night Shift", "The Boogeyman" follows a man named Lester Billings, who explains to his psychiatrist the events surrounding his two young children's untimely deaths when they were young. One was diagnosed with crib death while the other's cause of death was ruled convulsions, both unrelated. However, according to Lester, both children cried "Boogeyman!" right before their respective deaths, and both times the closet door was ajar when Lester himself swears that it was closed when he left the room.
Long or short, it's a helluva story, and the fact that its adaptation to film was entrusted with Rob Savage has me bouncing inside like a superball in a concrete chamber, undulating with anticipation and jollity. "The Boogeyman" hits theatres June 2nd, 2023, and you can check out the trailer here......hopefully you didn't leave your laptop under the bed, or you might just get a first hand glimpse into what your imagination is capable of, and who knows if you'll make it back.
