The Twilight Zone (TV Series 1959-1964)

Good morning, House of Madness guests:

It may seem a little silly to be talking about "The Twilight Zone" the day after 'National Twilight Zone Day', but I was too busy to write because I was bingeing episodes of "TTZ" all day long. I like the many reboots that have been done to the franchise, but there's no way you could ever convince me anything is superior to the original. The black & white film, the monologues by Rod Serling himself, and the countless celebrities he was able to bring on board to help bring his stories to life all mesh together and bring us a complete viewing experience. Like stories about murder? They're in here. Like tales about outer space? We've got you covered. Stories involving the paranormal? Look no further. The variety and vast universe of "TTZ" are really what make it so spectacular in my opinion, as the stories never get old or stale because they're constantly changing. Even though the majority of the episodes are based on short stories by Mr. Serling himself, there are also plenty of others based on stories from other brilliant authors such as Richard Matheson and Ray Bradbury.

I'm so glad there's actually a day celebrating this groundbreaking series because it not only paved the way for horror and science fiction being accepted, it also inspired countless other shows which we all hold so dear. If you're unlucky enough to have never seen a single episode of the original series, I promise that by the end of viewing a few tales you'd recognize them in one form or another; imitation is the highest form of flattery after all. So, even though I may be a day late in paying tribute to my favourite television series of all time, I regret nothing simply because my DVD player begged me for a break while I hit "next episode" more times than I could count yesterday, and I celebrated the day with what felt like Rod Serling himself. Who knows, perhaps I really did spend the day with him, after all, anything can happen......in The Twilight Zone.

Madness Meter: 10/10
