Top 5 Horror/Sci-Fi Anthology Movies

Good afternoon, House of Madness anthologists:

As previously discussed in my last writing which focused on anthology TV shows, today we will take the same energy and blast it into the discussion of anthology movies. There's much more variety when it comes to films vs. television, so while the material at hand could certainly warrant a top 10 list, I'm keeping it at a trim 5 because I'm lazy, and quite frankly, hungover on Pabst and Pizza Pockets. Let's begin!

5. Body Bags (1993): If you enjoy John Carpenter films, this is the anthology series for you. There are some really great tales in here, and they have the perfect combination of laughs and frights to keep your fear buds satiated to the max.

4. Cat's Eye (1985): I rented this flick when I was a kid so many times, that the video store proprietor kept a copy behind the counter solely for me, just in case. If you've ever thought about smoking, the episode entitled 'Quitters, Inc' will have you thinking twice about lighting another foul tasting tobacco stick.

3. V/H/S (2012): It's rare that you'll be treated to a full compliment of quality stories in an anthology film, as you're bound to experience one dud, or at least a 'meh' tale, but you won't find any duds in here. A refreshing addition to a genre that had been desperately in need of a banger.

2. Trick 'r Treat (2007): It's a shame that this film went straight to DVD instead of getting the fair shake at the box office it deserved, but the almost taboo reputation it received as a result helped it garner the appreciation it so deserves. This film should be in every horror fan's Halloween repertoire.

1. Creepshow 2 (1987): Probably an unpopular opinion here, but this is the absolutely perfect anthology in my opinion. All three tales (As well as the cartoon narrative) absolutely smack ass with fire paddles while we dance in our seats trying to put out the flames. Ok, maybe that's a little over the top, but the segment with the raft has stuck with me for decades.

And there we have it, folks - another list so controversial, that it's being discussed with brute force on CNN and Fox News (I've been told). I know I definitely left some great films on the cutting room floor in the making of this list, so please feel free to enlighten me with your favourites below. Thanks for reading!
